How to complete a PDF form
Open the form first. pdfmend identifies whether it contains supported fields and gives you a fallback for pages that only look fillable.
Choose the form on your device
The browser opens the PDF locally and inspects it for supported form fields. Your file is not transmitted to pdfmend.
Fill the detected fields
Use the Form fields panel for text, checkboxes, radio choices, and dropdowns. If no fields are detected, the Text tool is selected for typing over the page.
Add missing marks
Use Text for a flat blank, Ink for a simple check mark, and Signature for a visible signature. Position each added object before export.
Review and download the completed copy
Check every page and export locally. The original form remains unchanged and the result contains no pdfmend watermark.
First identify whether the form is interactive or flat
An interactive PDF contains real AcroForm controls. pdfmend lists supported text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns in the Form fields panel. Entering values there keeps the answers associated with the form rather than requiring you to align every letter manually.
A flat form is a scan or printout whose boxes and lines are only page graphics. There is nothing for a form filler to focus. In that case, pdfmend switches the task toward the Text tool so you can place answers over blanks, and Ink can add a small check or X where needed.
Complete, sign, and correct the form in one place
Work through the field panel, then inspect the actual page for blanks that were not represented as fields. Some forms mix interactive controls with printed signature or date lines. Add those last pieces with the Signature and Text tools instead of moving the document through a second service.
Undo is available when a value or page edit is wrong. If the source already contains a digital signature, pdfmend warns that editing a copy may invalidate it and requires explicit acknowledgement. XFA forms and certificate-backed signing are not supported.

Keep sensitive answers inside your browser
Medical intake sheets, rental applications, school records, and tax forms contain unusually concentrated personal data. Uploading an empty form is one thing; uploading the completed copy also reveals every answer you entered.
pdfmend processes the source, values, visual marks, and export on the device. Optional reusable form presets are explicit local-browser storage, expire after a limited period, and can be cleared. They are never synced to a pdfmend account. Anonymous Plausible events use coarse buckets and cannot represent form values or document content.

What kinds of PDF form fields work?
Supported AcroForm text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns appear in the Form fields panel. XFA forms and certificate-backed signature fields are not supported.
What if the PDF has no fillable fields?
Use the Text tool to place answers over printed blanks. For a simple checkbox on a flat page, use Ink to draw a mark. The exported copy includes those additions.
Can I sign the form in pdfmend too?
Yes. The Signature tool adds a visible drawn signature. It is not a certificate-backed digital signature, so confirm what the receiving party requires.
Are my form answers stored by pdfmend?
No server receives them. Optional local form presets and draft recovery are separate, explicit browser-storage features that can be disabled and cleared from the device.
